Are you looking for a way to fill out your community service log? Well look no further! ThinkChess has an opportunity for high school students to fill out 1 hour of their community service logs per week by teaching kids how to play chess.
Where: Roberts Elementary School, 251 Buford Hwy NE, Suwanee, GA 30024
Who: Any High School Student that knows how to play chess and would like to fill out their community service log
When: Every Monday (No classes on February 20 and April 3) at the times 3:15PM – 4:15PM. Classes end on May 1.
How:
Before volunteering, you need to email Coach Parnell at parnell@mythinkchess.com. Email the following:
- Your First and Last Name
- The day (or days) you would like to volunteer for at Roberts
- Are you a rated or non-rated player? If you are not rated, how would you rate your chess playing skills?
Before you go to volunteer, you must have received a confirmation email from Coach Parnell. Once you have received the confirmation email, then you can volunteer.
Go to the Roberts Elementary school, you can either get dropped off at the front of the school or park at the visitor parking at the front of the school, and go inside. Check in with the front desk attendant. If you have a driver’s license, bring that with you. They will scan it and put you in their system. If not, they have an alternative method for people without a driver’s license. Once you get checked in, turn left and walk along that hallway until you reach the Roberts Elementary School’s Cafeteria. This is where the ThinkChess Roberts Chess Club is located. Once the chess club finishes, Coach Parnell will sign your community service log for 1 hour.
